Our Technology

Mahavir Kmina employs a technology that is characterized by its simplicity. Our prostheses were developed so that they could be manufactured quickly without compromising their quality and, consequently, the rehabilitation of the beneficiary. The Corporation only requires three to five working days to manufacture a durable, light and customized prosthesis, with resistance to biological contaminants and suitable for heavy work.

Technological cooperation agreement

The technology we use was developed by theBMVSS Foundation(Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti) in Jaipur, India, and shared with our founding partners through atechnology cooperation agreement.Thanks to this, the Mahavir Kmina Corporation was born, becoming theonly organization to use this type of technology in Latin America.


Through this agreement, signed on March 5, 2007, the BMVSS Foundation to the newly founded non-profit organization its specialized knowledge, its manufacturing technique for prosthetic devices and the use of theJaipur Foot.

The Jaipur Foot

The Jaipur foot is one of a kind. Unlike other more conventional feet, this is made essentially withvulcanized rubber,the same material from which the tires of automobiles are made. Thanks to this, the Jaipur foot ismore flexible, resistant and durable.In addition, it allows the user to perform heavy work, is water resistant and can support up to four tons of weight.

Our prosthetics

The main characteristic of the prosthesis that we elaborate in our production center is its low cost, this is due to the type of raw materials that we use and its fast manufacturing method. Our prostheses are resistant to severe climatic conditions and are more efficient on irregular surfaces than other prostheses, which makes them ideal for rural life.

Exo and Endo Prosthetics

Mahavir Kmina's signature prosthesis falls within the category of exo prosthetics, which means that its coverage is, at the same time, its support. Although this type of prosthesis has lost validity with the development of new endoprosthetic technologies (in which the support is internal), it has multiple advantages with respect to these.


At present, the Corporation has also implemented endo type technology as part of its offer of prosthetic devices, but the exo prostheses is still the most commonly used.

Endo type prosthetics

Endo type prostheses, also known simply as modular prosthetics, are characterized by being extremely lightweight and quick to assemble. Its design allows adapting to a polycentric knee; that is, of multiple axes of rotation, which improves the user's walking. This type of prosthesis is optimal for daily life, especially in older adults.

Exo type prosthetics

Exo type prostheses are identified because their coverage is, at the same time, their support. They look similar to a human leg and, like the modular prostheses, their manufacture is fast. This type of prosthesis is more resistant to shock and severe weather conditions, which makes them more suitable for heavy work and rural life.
