Our prosthetics are completely free! If you are suitable for a prosthesis, Mahavir Kmina will cover the costs of its manufacture, as well as the additional services that are included in the process (physiatric review and psychological session). However, transportation costs to our service center, lodging and food are the responsibility of the beneficiary.

1. Your stump must not have any open wounds at the time of accessing the service.
If your amputation is recent, you should wait for the wound to heal before requesting a prosthesis with Mahavir Kmina or any prosthetic workshop.
2. You must have a leg that is still in good physical condition to adapt to the prosthesis.
That means you should exercise it regularly. If you move around in a wheelchair, change it to a walker, crutches, or other support than the chair, since strengthening the other leg is essential for adaptation and rehabilitation.
* This condition does not apply to bilateral cases (both legs).3. You must be part of the subsidized scheme of the Health System (Sisbén); that is to say, you cannot be quoting health with an EPS.
If you belong to the contributory scheme, as a contributor, you have the right to receive a prosthesis through the EPS. Mahavir Kmina exists to help those who have no means of obtaining a prosthesis.
We invite you to exhaust the EPS resource and if you have evidence that shows a previous process in the EPS without success, send it to asistcoordadmin@mahavir-kmina.org to continue with the process. Valid evidence is petition rights, guardianship actions, complaints filed with the Superintendency of Health, a copy of the medical record, or an order issued by a physiatrist requesting the prosthesis.
Please, do not lie on the form. We have mechanisms to verify the regime to which you belong. Providing false information is sanctioned by the Corporation, and by doing it, you will no longer be able to access the benefit.
4. You must keep your stump bandaged before accessing the service. Bandaging the stump is very important in reducing the inflammation that occurs naturally in the stump.
1. Your residual limb must not have any open wounds at the time you access the service.
If your amputation is recent, you should wait for the wound to heal completely before requesting a prosthesis with Mahavir Kmina or any prosthetic shop.
2. You must have the leg that you still have in good physical condition to adapt to the prosthesis.
That means you should exercise it regularly. If you move in a wheelchair, change it to a walker, crutches or a different support to the chair, because the strengthening of the other leg is essential for the adaptation and rehabilitation process.
* This condition does not apply to bilateral cases (both legs).

Your stump should remain permanently bandaged, just remove it to clean the area. If the bandage comes loose, you should remove it and bandage the stump again. We suggest wearing the bandage tighter during the day and loosening it up a bit at night when you go to sleep.
The elastic bandage does not require constant changing, it is enough to wash it once a week.
